Good morning, readers! Today I have a review of a different type of nail wrap for you today! Usually, I review the "real nail polish" strips like the ones from Incoco and Sally Hansen. Jamberry, however, is an entirely different type of nail strip. These are thicker and use heat and pressure to apply to the nail.
I believe this print is called "Poised Plaid." There are over 350 different Jamberry Nail Wraps to choose from on the Jamberry Website!
"What are Jamberry Nails?
Jamberry Nail Shields are the newest, safest, and most cost effective way to accessorize your fingers and toes! Get your own unique professional nail design and say goodbye to nail polish. With today's hottest celebrities already wearing unique nail designs, it's quickly becoming a fashion must have!
This new nail treatment can be applied in just 15 minutes at home. With over 350 styles available, these designer nail shields are made to last up to 2 weeks on fingers and 6 weeks on toes. Unlike traditional nail polish they won't chip and require no drying time. It's so easy to achieve a professional salon look at a fraction of the cost.
Jamberry Nail Shields are a solid film covering that can be applied directly to the nail to achieve a look not found anywhere else. This special material is both pressure and heat activated to create a watertight bond to your nail. The film is finished with a high gloss protective layer that prevents your nail shield from chipping or scuffing.
Each sheet will do a full set of fingers and toes up to two times each. Buy 3 sheets and get your 4th one FREE!!!"
As I said above, these don't apply the same way as the "real nail polish" strips. Instead, these are the instructions found on the website:
I followed the instructions above, using a hair dryer to heat the glue on the underside of the wrap. Unfortunately, even with reapplying the heat on the entire nail once the strip was applied, I had some wrinkles at the sides and middle of the cuticles. I think these would work much better for those of you without rounded or arched nail beds like I have.
There were a few that didn't fit my nail so I had to try and trim them to fit better. That was hard for me, and I had some over hang (you can see a bit of that at the cuticle of the index finger in the photos). For the most part, I was able to find one to fit closely enough.
I didn't get to do a true wear test with these because of too many things waiting to be reviewed. However, they weren't thin so I wouldn't expect them to just chip off like regular polish. What do you think of them? I've written up some pros and cons for my personal preference with them:
Pros:
- They will probably last longer than regular polish since they don't chip (as long as you get a good seal).
- They have a TON of fun designs to choose from! That's great for anyone that wants nail art but doesn't feel like they can make it themselves.
- It takes much less time to apply than to paint these intricate designs on your nails.
Cons:
- You may have to trim them to fit and you can't just scrape off the excess on the sides like with the "real nail polish" strips.
- They wrinkled on my rounded nail beds so I'm not sure how long they would last before catching onto something like my hair if I were to run my fingers through it.
- The removal is a bit difficult. Either apply heat and peel off (which I don't think is good for your nails and actually peeled up some of my nail) or the foil method which takes a bit of time.
So all in all, they are pretty neat but I'm not sure they would work easily for all nail types. I think I'd rather use them for accent nails since my nails were too rounded for good application. Thanks for reading!
They retail for $15 a set but if you buy 3, you get 1 more free! You can buy them at the website below!
