Good morning! Mr. Adventures In Acetone and I were walking around the mall last night (kid free!) and I came across a gorgeous shirt in one of the department stores. I wish they had it in my size, it was bright and chartreuse and I loved it! Also, I told the hubby that it would be an awesome nail polish color. Fast forward to this morning, as I'm sitting at my nail desk: I look up at the rack of OPI polishes and OMGOSH(!!) I have a polish the same color as the shirt! OPI Life Gave Me Lemons from the new Neon Collection-- I had forgotten about it because it's not a color I typically reach for to wear.
I knew I wanted to do some kind of pattern over it, and I think I may have gone a little overboard with this mani. I tried to combine half moons with tribal print, but the other colors seem to have been washed out after I added the matte top coat.
- I first started out with three coats of OPI Life Gave Me Lemons, a bright chartreuse creme that walks the line between yellow and lime green.
- Next, I used a script brush and Sinful Colors Black On Black to draw free hand half moon shapes. (If I had the time to be more patient, I would have preferred using half moon guides to get a better shape.)
- From there, I used the script brush and black again to do vertical lines from the half moon to the tips.
- I then filled them in with different colors in a random order: Illamasqua Seance, Milani Silver Stilettos, some were solid black, and the rest were left chartreuse.
- Then, randomly, I did different lines and dots in the same four colors in the different sections.
- I topped them with Seche Vite top coat, but then decided to make them matte, so Butter London Matte Finish was added on top.
There's a lot going on with this mani, so I'm undecided on if I like it or not. I'm still wearing it, though, so I like it enough to keep it on. I just wish that Seance and Silver Stillettos were brighter over the base color. What are your thoughts? Thanks for reading!
